Knock-Out

The term knock-out refers to "cutting out" people or objects from existing photographs to create either a pure white or a transparent background depending upon usage. This technique is common when preparing image files for print and website catalogues. Knock-outs are usually combined with some degree of retouch and is especially important when creating composites from multiple images.

Retouch

Often referred to as "air-brushing", postproduction photographic retouch work is a skill developed through time and experience. When applied to people, retouching is best executed by visual artists familiar with human form and bone structure. Creative Control Studio takes extra pride in this problem-solving specialty. Removing unwanted blemishes, wrinkles, hair and double chins are just a few of the special requests welcomed.
Retouching not only applies to people, but places and things as well. Elements of a composition can be added, removed or changed. Adjusting color, size, placement of objects, and the removal or "cleaning-up" of undesirable objects are a few of the processes included under the title of retouching.

Composites

Composites are more easily shown than explained, but lets give it a shot. Composites are comprised of multiple elements from one or more images of like or dislike compositions. Composites are created to showcase the most desirable pieces of a picture, to form meaningful designs or to create imagery never seen before by creating fiction from facts. Below are three examples of very different composites.
